If you’re looking to enter any dental school in Canada or the United States, you’ll have to contend with the DAT before starting your application. Since the year 1950, the American Dental Association has designated the DAT (also known by its full name, the Dental Admission Test) as the standard entrance test for dental school admissions. Your scores on this exam will determine your eligibility for almost every dental education program you may hope to enter. The DAT is also administered throughout several US territories, including Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and Guam. Unless you’ve received direct permission from the ADA, you may only take the DAT three times; however, you can apply to take the exam on practically any day of the year.
